The new school year has begun!

  • Do you have a difficult time communicating with your child: getting him/her up for school, doing chores, completing homework, etc.?
  • Do you joke and say “Oh he/she has selective hearing!?”

Well, hearing loss, whether mild or severe, goes undetected and can have a negative effect on your child’s academic performance as well as functioning at home and in the community.

Come join us for an informal evening of learning how we hear and what factors into hearing loss, causes, and strategies when collaborating with your school district!

Presenter:  Dr. Ann Marie Olson

Dr. Ann Marie Olson has been helping individuals with hearing loss since 2001. As the Founder of Sophisticated Hearing in 2005, she is deeply committed to helping individuals with hearing loss. She has served on the Hearing Loss Association of NJ’s Board of Trustees since 2008. Dr. Olson is also the Vice President of Communications for the NJ Academy of Audiology. She received a Doctor of Science Degree in Audiology from Montclair State University where she is also an adjunct professor. During her graduate studies, she held externships at various hospitals in the NY and NJ area. As a supplement to her studies, Dr. Olsen has presented her research findings at international conferences on auditory processing in young, middle-aged and older adults.
